FAQ Soy Delicious Candles
When did the company originate?
In Miami, Florida in 2006
What is a soy candle?
A soy candle is made from soybean wax. Wax from a soybean is non-toxic, biodegradable and a renewable sustainable resource. A 100% soy candle will burn cleaner, cooler, slower and more evenly.
Are all soy wax candles the same?
No. Many "soy" candles in today's market are actually a blend containing soy wax and paraffin wax. Soy Delicious candles are 100% soy and do not contain paraffin wax.
What are the benefits of soy?
Soy wax is 100% natural. Wax from a soybean is non-toxic, biodegradable and a renewable sustainable resource. Paraffin candles are made from petroleum and release CO2 in the atmosphere.
Soy candles produce far less soot than paraffin candles. In fact, the soot produced is 90% less and is white. For this reason, soy candles are the healthy alternative to a paraffin wax candle. Breathing toxic soot can be very unhealthy and will eventually cover nearby walls and furniture.
Are your candles really 100% soy?
Yes, our candles are made from 100% non-GMO (non- genetically modified) soy wax and we do not add any additives to our soy, like paraffin wax.
Are they safe to use as a moisturizer?
Yes. Soy contains vitamin E and antioxidant properties, both known for their hydrating power. The soy is cosmetic grade and our fragrances are also body safe.
Do I need to remove the soy from my skin once I use it, or will my skin absorb it?
There is no need to remove the soy oil from your skin. Your skin will naturally absorb the rich soy oil.
Will the soy burn me?
The soy is only slightly warmer than body temperature, but you may wish to turn off the candle to avoid being burned by the flame. When using as a moisturizer we suggest you use our signature bamboo spoon to scoop up the melted soy oil.
Can the soy oil be used on all parts of the body?
We suggest you do not use the soy oil in sensitive areas, such as the face, however the candle is safe to use on the body.
What types of oils are used for the fragrance?
Our candles have a high concentration of natural fragrance oils. We use a blend of synthetic and essential oils.
Are there any color additives in the candle?
We do not add any dyes or colors to ensure that our candles remain as natural as possible, especially since they can be used as a moisturizer. Our candles are naturally white; the color of the soy used to produce them
Do all orders include a signature logo bamboo spoon?
All our 14oz. boxed candles come with a signature bamboo spoon.
What are the wicks made of?
A cotton core lead-free wick
Do I need to trim the wick?
You should always trim the wick to 1/4" every time you light your candle. When not properly trimmed, the wicks of all candles can "mushroom", causing excessive flickering and/or smoke. Keeping your wick trimmed keeps this to a minimum and also makes your candle safer. Trimming also prevents your wick from curling back into the wax - a common problem with non-metal cored wicks.
What are the burn times?
Our 14oz. boxed candle has a burn time of approximately 80 hours.
*Approximate longevity when burned correctly.
Are the burn times accurate?
Burn times vary depending on the location and conditions. Also keep in mind that if you use the candle as a moisturizer it will affect the burn time as you are using some of the soy oil that would normally solidify for the next burn time.
Can I use a candle warmer or lamp with my soy candle?
We can’t guarantee that the scent throw will be as strong with a lamp or warmer.
Do soy candles have as much fragrance as a wax candle?
Yes. Soy wax candles can actually accommodate more fragrance by-weight than paraffin or wax-based candles (10% vs. 6%). The scent of a candle comes from the pool of melted wax. Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin candles and consequently has a larger pool of melted wax to disperse the fragrance.
Will you be making Pillar candles?
A 100% soy candle cannot be made into a pillar; the soy wax is too soft and needs to be burned in a tight fitting container. Any site that says they have a soy pillar candle is adding an additive – most likely paraffin.
How should I turn off my candle?
We provide a signature logo lid with each of our candles. We suggest you cover the candle to turn it off every time.
Where should I burn my soy candle?
It is best to burn the candle on a stable, protected, hard surface away from drafts and material that could catch fire. Our glass containers have a very heavy base that allows the base to keep cool and protect the furniture it is set upon. However, we suggest not leaving any candle unattended,
How do I clean up a soy wax spill?
Soy wax cleans up very easily with mild soap and water.
Can I recycle my jars?
Absolutely! We pour our candles into drinking glasses so that they can be reused. Simply completely burn out your candle and remove the metal wick base. Wash the glass in water and soap.
When will my order be shipped?
Orders are generally shipped within 2-3 business days.
Will you be adding more fragrances?
We are continually adding new fragrances and looking at new sizes to SoyDelicious.com. We love to hear your thoughts! Please contact us with your feedback.
